B-Sides

Looking for a taste of my writing style? Just want to see if I might be the author for you? Take a look at these “B-Sides” to get an idea. These are some of the side pieces I write between novels to keep me out of trouble and flex that writerly muscle.

Amsterdam: Set against the backdrop of Amsterdam, this story follows a rock star and an old flame through a reunion steeped in guilt, forgiveness, and unspoken love — a fleeting encore for a song that can’t be played forever. This piece won 2nd Place for Romance and was first published in Ramblings & Reflections, SouthWest Writers, 2021

Harlequin Hovers: Think of Harlequin Hovers as a bonus track to my novel Helplessly Hoping. It’s a prequel short story that offers a standalone look into Nicki’s world without spoilers for the main book. Available exclusively when you sign up for my newsletter.

Playing with Fire: Inspired by David Crosby, Playing with Fire adds a touch of magic to the Laurel Canyon scene of the ’70s. A detour from my usual retro fiction, think of it as a what-if story sparked by music and imagination.
