Highlights from Readers and Reviewers

A Great Read:
I found this book recently in a mammoth book giveaway; I had never heard of this author before, but I’ll be searching her out from here on in. Set in a time period before computers and cell phones; the era of all powerful recording companies and horribly behaving rock legends. Shares some similarities to Daisy Jones, but I found the heroine more likable and relatable. Our hero is already a world-renowned band member when he encounters the young female session player and song writer at a recording studio. What follows is so much romance, bad behavior and personal growth, and a second chance with actions that prove readiness for that second chance. I loved it.

Beautifully Human:
I liked this a lot. The characters were strong and deeply nuanced. Their connection felt authentic, as did their struggles. The author did an amazing job conveying the backstage life of the 70s and 80s music scenes. Very warm and enjoyable.

Poignant & Unforgettable:
Bennett’s prose is imbued with a palpable sense of nostalgia for the heyday of rock music, evoking the sights, sounds, and sensations of the era with vivid detail. From the smoky clubs and backstage antics to the soaring highs of live performances, the novel immerses readers in a world where every chord and lyric pulses with electric energy.

The Most Captivating Rockstar Romance:
While the novel is steeped in the rockstar lifestyle, it also touches on deeper themes like identity, forgiveness, and the struggles of balancing fame with personal fulfillment. Dale’s internal conflict—whether to re-engage with his past or to continue living a relatively quieter life—fuels much of the plot. His encounters with former band members and Nicki’s patient but firm approach to managing his chaotic life highlight the novel’s core message: healing and happiness are possible, even in the most unexpected of places.

Immersive & Evocative:
I was immediately pulled in by Dale and Nicki’s banter, and just how real the characters are. I laughed, I cried, I got angry – you get a huge range of emotions with this book with the strong thread of love running through. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes to be immersed in the world the author creates.

Rock and Roll Forever:
He was quite egotistic when we met him, but he mellowed out through the book. His PA was amazing. Nicki was hurt and guarded and super talented. It was cool to see how her story unfolded and how she was portrayed as strong and landing on her feet. As their friendship then love grew it was great to see the changes. The redemption arc between former bandmates and between Nicki and Dale were great. I want to be friends and hang out with these people.

Love that Spans Decades
I loved this book. It kept me captivated from start to finish. The characters are awesome and even though they might be totally out of your league, you find yourself rooting for them, wanting good things to happen for each of them separately and together. I felt like I was backstage watching this story. I will admit there were two places where I cried.

First book I purchased from this author. Not my last by any means.
Great love story that’s takes you through young love, the comfortable years and decades of lives well lived.

A Delightful, Heartbreaking Read
Immediately invested in these dysfunctional yet relatable characters and the worlds in which they live. The author took what is usually glammed up or scandalized with the music industry and fame, and made it seem normal, because it was their normal.
