Ever Feel Like You’re Climbing the Alps?

A long, long time ago, I started writing a story and it was taking me down this long, winding path but kept bringing me back to the same spot. Time and time again. The path felt covered and hidden.

I’m not even a hundred percent sure what switched, or when that path changed but I’m fairly certain it had a lot to do with my awesomely supportive and smart critique group. The eighty percent of the story I had did a one-eighty turn and an entirely different story arose from the words.

That led to another year of rewrites and edits. I attempted going down the Traditional Publishing Path but turned around on that one as well for many, many reasons. Having done the research and digging, all I kept hearing was that agents were too inundated and none of them would get back to you within six months – if at all.

So, it was back to the Independent Publishing, pushing beyond Amazon, which is a whole other learning curve for me. I’m positive I did things wrong, and I’m still tripping over tree branches and roots in the path on this one.

But… ta-dah!

I made it to the top of the mountain! It’s here. It’s a thing. It’s a bouncing baby book.

This does not mean it’s all downhill from here. Now comes the part that no writer got into the game to do: marketing and hocking your wares.

But if you’re here, you have a sense of my writing. I’ve told another story about another musical couple starting in 1976 and picking up again in 1983 and I’m very excited to share Cass and Jeff’s story with you in September.

Check it out and help an author out by leaving a review on Goodreads or Amazon or where ever you leave book reviews. Thanks for sticking with me through the silences and marketing.

As my friend Dawn and I keep saying ‘we do this because it’s fun, right?’ And it is. It’s totally worth it when you reach that peak on the mountain and look back to see how far you’ve actually come. Just try not to look at how far you have to go. 😉

And, by the way, I’ve already started on a new one so… looks like there are more mountains to climb!
