They Liked It!

Anyone that knows an author knows how important it is to them to get reviews of their book. Going beyond the helping others to gauge how others perceive the story, but the ever-important algorithm! Much like all those social media algorithm’s, it helps to keep the book in circulation and in front of potential interested readers. (Plug here that you don’t need to write a synopsis of the book and write a 3 page book review – honest! Give it a few stars and type ‘I liked it.’ That’s enough to keep it in algorithm-land.)

I had my book reviewed by Booklife, a website from Publisher’s Weekly designed to help indie authors like myself. Full disclosure, you do pay for the review, however, it is NOT paying for a GOOD review. It’s goal is to give an author a fair assessment of their work, potentially showing spots that may need work, with the option to publish the review or keep it private.

Well, if you clicked the link above, you know that I opted to have mine published because, y’all!!! THEY LIKED IT! Not only did they LIKE it, they made an ‘Editor’s Pick’ which is something you cannot buy – it’s chosen by the merit of the manuscript.

Color me excited!

There’s really no feeling in the world like having something you’ve worked on for three years come to fruition. When something as simple as a spark of an idea, a quiet narrative that echoes in your head while you’re going through your morning routine, turns into something that you can hold in your hand and show people.

Look. I’m really not insane. It’s a thing. It’s a novel. It’s real!

And then someone reads it? ::mind blown::

Booklife Review, Editor’s Pick

If you’ve followed me on my social media account (you know where to find those, right?) you know that I’ve been having a bit of a time trying to get the ebook and paperback ready for release on September 2nd. Please be patient if you’re looking for it. I truly feel like I’m wandering through the Dark Forest on a moonless night without any kind of illumination trying to figure it all out. I’m optimistically hopeful all goes according to plan.

I am not expecting this to be a best seller. I’m not expecting to make the money back that I’ve spent on all this marketing swag… but when I’m having a crappy day and think I suck as a writer and don’t know what I’m doing? I’m coming back to this:

I’m a writer.

My book will be released September 2, 2023. Find it online where you buy your ebooks or check out your local indie bookstore and ask if they have it.

That’s my next hurdle!
